The Key Purpose of this role is to Maintain, repair, and optimise packaging plant and associated devices to ensure plant availability and product quality at minimum cost, while maintaining required safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Plant Maintenance & Optimisation
Maintain, repair, and optimise plant and associated devices to ensure reliable packaging operations.
Locate plant, equipment, spares, and relevant documentation or systems.
Plan and prepare maintenance and repair jobs effectively.
Carry out repairs and routine maintenance in line with good maintenance practices.
Continuously improve and optimise plant, process equipment, and systems.
Operate plant and process equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Safety, Health & Environment
Comply with all safety, health, and environmental procedures and legislation.
Maintain safety and housekeeping standards in workshops and production areas.
Identify unsafe practices and ensure safe maintenance practices are applied.
Stop machines where safety or product quality is at risk and escalate as required.
Maintain housekeeping standards within areas of operation.
Process Performance & Continuous Improvement
Optimise process and production performance through effective maintenance execution.
Conduct shift administration and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify problems or potential problems through plant walkabouts and running maintenance schedules.
Apply structured problem-solving techniques, including completion of 5-Why analyses and contribution to failure analysis processes.
Teamwork & Communication
Communicate effectively within teams and across departments.
Work closely with Team Leaders, Process Artisans, Operators, and Maintenance Controllers.
Contribute to self-development and team development initiatives.
Optimise team processes through effective workplace communication.
Manufacturing Way & Standards
Apply Manufacturing Way principles and practices in daily operations.
Be conversant with Global Evaluation of Manufacturing (GEM) requirements.
Support asset management standards and plant reliability initiatives.
Key Attributes & Competencies:
Strong mechanical problem-solving and analytical skills.
Influencing ability regarding sound maintenance practices.
Knowledge of packaging production processes and technologies.
Familiarity with maintenance systems (e.g. COSWIN).
Good leadership potential.
Understanding of Manufacturing Way strategies and initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
Certificate, Diplome or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
2 to 3 months on-the-job training plus Krones Academy Basic Maintenance Training
Ideal: 3 to 6 months on-the-job training plus Krones Academy Basic Maintenance Training
Routine maintenance experience on high-speed packaging lines.
